Dear parents and carers,
Mrs Cook is currently off work and we wish her a speedy recovery. I would like to thank staff and families for their continued support in keeping our school running smoothly.
Kindness Assembly
This week, our assembly focused on the importance of kindness. We discussed how acts of kindness can sometimes go unnoticed, yet they have a significant impact on our daily lives. Together, we reflected on the many examples of kindness shown by both children and adults within our school community and considered how different our lives would feel without them. We particularly talked about ‘kind hands’ and ‘kind words’ and how this might look around school.
Transition to Secondary School
Our Year 6 pupils have begun preparing for their transition to secondary school. This week, they took part in a range of activities alongside children from across the Trust who will be attending the same secondary schools. These opportunities have helped to strengthen friendships that have already been established through residential visits and other shared activities throughout the year.
Alongside the transition programmes offered by individual secondary schools, these experiences are helping our pupils feel confident and excited about the next stage of their education. I am extremely proud of our Year 6 children and know that they will be well-prepared for their next chapter of learning.
Dentist Visit
This week, every class enjoyed a visit from Torrington Dental Practice. The sessions helped children learn about the importance of good oral hygiene and the impact that diet can have on dental health. Our Key Stage 2 pupils also took part in a disclosing activity, which highlighted how effectively they brush their teeth and identified any areas that may need a little more attention. The children engaged enthusiastically and gained valuable knowledge to support healthy habits both at school and at home.
Wildside Experience - Class 3 Residential
Class 3 are looking forward to their night away on residential. The coach will leave at 9.00am, so please ensure children arrive at school for a prompt departure.
Sports Day
We are looking forward to our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 Sports Day on Tuesday and our Nursery sports day on Friday and we are hoping for favourable weather conditions. On Tuesday we will begin promptly at 1:00pm with a series of family group activities, during which parents and carers are welcome to follow their children around the different stations.
Following this, we will move on to a range of competitive races, including egg-and-spoon races, sack races and running races, giving every child the opportunity to take part and showcase their sporting spirit. We look forward to welcoming families and celebrating the enthusiasm, determination and teamwork of our pupils.
Our Nursery children will start at 10:00am on Friday and we are looking forward to seeing all our families coming along to support their children.
Move-up Day
Our Move-up Day will take place on Monday 29th June. Children will register in their current class between 8.50am and 9.00am, and then children will have the opportunity to experience a day in their September classroom.
Swallows
Our resident swallow babies are just beginning to show their beaks over the edge of the nest and the children are enjoying watching them grow and change now that we can see them.
Have a lovely weekend,
Rachael Hopkins
