Dear Parents and Carers,

This week in our whole school assembly we have been discussing what ‘emotional resilience’ looks like and thinking about strategies we can use to support ourselves when we feel overwhelmed because we are finding things tricky. I shared the visual representation of our thinking brain and emotionally becoming detached and our inability to use our thinking brain to help us make decisions. We call this ‘flipping your lid’. Some of the children were able to share the strategies they use to best support themselves when they feel like this. It was a reflective assembly where all the children were able to recognise what works for one person, may not necessarily be the strategy that works best for them. Some of the strategies discussed were counting to 10, talking to an adult, removing themselves from the situation and being by themselves, and when calm, talking through their feelings with an adult. Please see the links below that give parents some guidance on how to support your child/ren at home when they become overwhelmed and support for parents.

Staff Changes from January 2026
Mrs French, who has been part of the HNTPS staffing team for 4 years, will be leaving us in December as she moves into her retirement. We all wish her the very best and would like to thank her for her dedication to the children, parents and wider community of HNTPS. We will all miss her but know she will thoroughly enjoy some quality time with family. Mrs Carter will be working alongside Mrs Radley in class 1, overseeing the teaching and learning activities for nursery and reception on Thursday mornings and all day on Friday. Mrs Hopkins will be returning to school in the new year as the full-time teacher in class 4.
Colder Weather
The weather has certainly turned very cold and staff have noticed the number of children who have come to school this week without a coat. Please can we ask that all children come to school with a coat each day as we endeavour to get the children outside for fresh air during their break and lunchtimes.
Book and Biscuit Session
We are looking forward to our parents joining us for our book and biscuit session on Wednesday 26th November from 2:45-3:25 next week. Parents of class 1 and 2 children are invited to join us through the bottom gates and class 3 and 4 parents through the front door. The children will be sharing the maths learning they have been exploring this term, with class 3 and 4 children explaining our EMD strategy to support children’s learning and children in class 2 sharing their ‘pink for think’ strategy. Resources will also be displayed within the classroom, which the children use to support their learning. Please do come along and join us as the children do love to share their learning and receive a comment from their families in the books!
Class 2 Space workshop
Parents of children in class 2 will have received an email this week with information about a space workshop that will be taking place in school at the beginning of December. Parents are now able to make payments for the workshop through our parent payments system on Arbor. The children are very excited about sharing what they have been learning about space when our visitors come to school!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Cook
