Dear parents/carers,
Dear parents and carers,
This week in our whole school assembly, we continued to build on our understanding of what ‘emotional resilience’ means to us. Using a visual reminder, the children could reflect on times when they may have 'flipped their lid' and made decisions that would have demonstrated ‘no, thank you’ choices. We discussed the various strategies that we could use to best support us to regulate our emotions, such as taking deep breaths, having a quiet space to calm down, talking it through with an adult or even doing some mindful colouring or drawing what has happened. With the children’s ideas, we have created a poster for both key stage 1 and 2 that will act as a reminder for all children to use. These are now available for the children to refer to when they need them in their classrooms and around the school.
School Improvement Visit
On Thursday this week, Dan Polak, director of Education) and Mat Harts (Head of Pilton Junior School) came to look at the reading and writing across the school. The children conducted themselves beautifully, demonstrating their ability to be ready to learn through fantastic resilience, focus and concentration in their learning. A huge well done to our children and all our staff who continue to demonstrate and value our school ethos at HNTPS ‘To Be the Best We Can Be’.
Flu Vaccinations – Wednesday 26th November
Thank you to those parents who gave their consent for their child/ren to have their flu vaccination in school on Wednesday.
Any parents who missed the consenting process and still wish their child to have the flu vaccine, please call the NHS Flu Vaccination Team on 01392 342 678, and they will complete a consent form over the phone and assist you in booking into one of our community clinics to have the vaccination done.
Anyone who has already completed a consent form and their child did not get the vaccine for any reason will automatically receive an email inviting them to book into a community clinic.
Book and Biscuit Afternoon – Wednesday 26th November
A huge thank you to all those parents who came along to our book and biscuit afternoon on Wednesday this week. It was lovely to see the children excited to share their maths learning with their adults and discuss our use of a range of strategies and manipulatives to support their maths learning in the classroom. We hope to set a date for our next book and biscuit session, which will take place at the beginning of the new year when the children can share their writing books with their families.
FRIENDS Christmas Hamper Donations
Your child will have come home with books of raffle tickets this week. Please can we ask that you return any unsold tickets or sold tickets to school with the money in the sealed envelope provided. If you require more raffle tickets, please do speak to your child’s class teacher. Thank you to those parents who have donated their class Christmas hamper gift already. Please can we ask that all donations are received before Friday 12th December. This will give the FRIENDS time to collate the hampers ready to be drawn in our last assembly of the year on Friday 19th December. The colours for each class are as follows:
Nursery/class 1 – RED
Class 2 – PURPLE
Class 3 – GREEN
Class 4 – GOLD/WHITE
Key Stage 2 Christingle Service
We would like to warmly invite parents of children in key stage 2 (classes 3 and 4) to our Christingle service on Wednesday 17th December at 2:45 -3:25pm. As this is Christmas jumper day, we are asking that children in class 3 and 4 wear their Christmas jumper to school along with the rest of their uniform, and bring their school jumper to school for the Christingle Service in the afternoon. We look forward to sharing our prayers of thanks, poems and songs with you all.
Class 1 and 2 Christmas Nativity Performances
As our performance dates are fast approaching, please can we ask that all costumes are brought into school in a named bag by next Friday 5th December. If you are struggling to organise your child’s costume, please do speak to your child’s class teacher. Performance dates and times are as follows:
Tuesday 9th December
1:30pm Class 1 (Nursery and reception performance)
Wednesday 10th December
9am Class 1 (Nursery and reception performance)
10am Class 2 (year 1 and 2 performance)
5pm Class 2 (Year 1 and 2 performance)
Please can we remind parents to ensure that their child/ren comes to school each day with a coat, as we try to get the children out in the fresh air during their break and lunch times. We are also asking that the children remember their drink bottles daily (except for children in class 1 who leave their drinks bottles in school). Staff are encouraging the children to have regular drinks breaks throughout the day. Thank you for your continued support.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Cook
