Enabling children to be the best that they can be!

Dear parents/carers,

This week we continue to deepen our understanding of resilience and how we can demonstrate resilience in a range of subjects and activities we do across our busy weeks at HNTPS.  As assessments took place last week in years 1 to 6, we saw many of our children demonstrate their resilience to use their knowledge and understanding of maths, using and applying their key skills to answer a number of questions.  The children also used their phonics and comprehension skills to answer a range of questions on a variety of texts.  Well done to all our children.  These assessments will help to inform teaching and learning for the last few weeks of term and as we move into the spring term in the new year.

Christmas Performances

Just to remind parents of children in class 1 and 2, the children are excited to be sharing their nativity performances with you next week.  Final preparations have been underway this week, and the children’s acting skills are definitely in full flow.

The performances are as follows:

Class 1                 Tuesday 9th December @ 1:30pm

                              Wednesday 10th December @ 9:00am

Class 2                  Wednesday 10th December @ 10am

Wednesday 10th @ 5pm (4:45pm drop off at Lovacott Village Hall for children in their costumes and parents can take their seats)

Mrs Radley would like children in class 1 to come to school on both performance days wearing leggings or track bottoms and their school jumper.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all there!

Christingle Service

Just to remind all our key stage 2 parents that you are invited to join our key stage 2 children (class 3 and 4) in their Christingle service on Wednesday 17th December at 2:45pm in the Gospel Hall.  We look forward to seeing you there.

Christmas Hampers

A huge thank you to all our parents for their generous donations for our class-coloured Christmas hampers over the past few weeks.  Please, if you have any donations, could they come into school at the beginning of next week as the FRIENDS team would like to collate the hampers together in preparation for the draw, which will take place in celebration assembly on the last day of term.

Reminder of class colours:

Class 1 – Red

Class 2 – Purple

Class 3 – Green

Class 4 – White and Gold

Christmas Post box

It is the time of year when the children like to write Christmas cards for their friends and adults in school.  Class teachers will provide children who would like to do this with class lists.  Please can we ask that the children use the postbox found in the lobby to post their cards in the morning.  These will be delivered by the school council each afternoon on the countdown to our Christmas break.

Christmas Clay Decorations

The children have been busy making, firing and glazing their Christmas decorations ready to take home and celebrate over the Christmas holidays.  These are available to purchase for £2.  The money raised in each class will be used to purchase new reading books for the book corners in each classroom.  Payments can be made through our Arbor system.  Children will be able to take this home over the next couple of weeks.

Lunch Bunch – Christmas Dinner Carol Singing

Following on from last year's carol singing, Mrs Dorrell will be bringing a group of children from class 3 and 4 to sing for the local residents who will be meeting for their Christmas lunch next Wednesday in Lovacott Village Hall.  Mrs Dorrell and Mrs Hopkins will be speaking to the children this week.  All the children have been practicing a variety of Christmas songs and carols that they look forward to singing to our local community.

Christmas Card Competition

The school council would like to invite the children at HNTPS to take part in a Christmas card competition.  Designs need to be half of A4 paper and portrait layout.  Children need to put their name and class on the back of the design.  There will be a small prize for the winning design from each class. The winning card designs will also be turned into Christmas cards and will be distributed to the homes within our local community by the School Council in the last week of term.   All entries to be handed into the office by Friday 12th December.

As we move closer to the Christmas holidays, your child/ren may be doing something special to celebrate their achievements with their class.  Please do look out for emails or letters coming home over the next week.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Cook
