Dear parents and carers,
Welcome back and a Happy New Year to you all. We hope you had a wonderful and restful Christmas break with your family and friends and that you managed to enjoy some quality time with your children.
I want to begin this newsletter by thanking you all for your kind words and generosity of gifts at the end of term. We now have a fully stocked staff room full of delicious biscuits, chocolates, tea and coffee that will definitely see us through this half term, thank you all so much.
It was an unusual start to the beginning of term and, once again, thank you all for your co-operation with our delayed opening on Tuesday. Opening at 10am allowed staff to travel to work safely and enabled us to ensure the school grounds were safe before opening the doors to our children. We will continue to monitor the weather and will communicate any changes to our school day to parents through emails and our Facebook page. Please do check these regularly for updates.
Curriculum Newsletters
As we start our new topics this term, staff have been collating the overviews and overarching questions for each area of the curriculum. These will be shared with the children next week and emailed out to parents alongside the newsletter next Friday. As always, if you have any further information or artefacts that would support your child’s learning, please do speak to your child’s class teacher.
SEND Support Plans
Following our recent assessments the children had completed before the Christmas break, the staff have been reviewing and updating the current SEND support plans for children in their classes. These will be shared by email with parents next week.
Trips and Visits
Staff will be emailing and sending home letters to parents about trips and visits they have organised to enhance and support the curriculum this term. There may be occasions when we might request additional volunteer support for parent helpers. If you are able and willing to support your child/ren’s class trips and visit, please speak directly to your child/ren’s class teacher.
Year 5 Residential to London
This year I will be supporting with the year 5 residential to London. I am very much looking forward to spending some time with our year 5 children and engaging in the range of activities that have been planned for our visit. Next Tuesday, I am meeting with the staff from our other TEAMS schools to finalise the trip and would like to invite parents of children in year 5 who are attending the residential to a meeting with Mrs Hopkins and myself on Wednesday 14th January at 3:35pm in class 4. This will be an opportunity for staff to go through the itinerary and enable us to answer any questions our parents may have. Today your child will come home with an information pack. Please do read through this information prior to our meeting.
School Tuck Shop
Due to our limited supplies and delays with our orders, our school tuck shop will begin next Friday 16th January. If you would like your child/ren to take part in our tuck shop, please do sign up through our Arbor system. The closing date for the booking system is Thursday 15th January at midday. The cost of the tuck shop is 50p per week. As we are a cashless school, we are unable to take cash payments for the tuck shop. Thank you for your continued support.
As the weather is continually changing, please can we ask that all children come to school each day with a coat, they may also like to bring in a hat, scarf and gloves too. (Can we ask that these are named). Children are also encouraged to bring a water bottle to school each day, as staff provide opportunities throughout the day for regular drink breaks.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Cook
