Dear Parents and Carers,
A huge thank you to all our parents and carers for their support with our later opening on Tuesday morning. To arrive at school without any power was not something we had planned for! A massive thank you to all our staffing team who clearly demonstrated our school value this half-term, working in collaboration to ensure the school was ready and safe for the children when they arrived. A big thank you to Mrs Robinson, who adapted her meal plans for the day to ensure every child was fed whether we had power or not.
This week in our whole school assembly we explored new beginnings and what this means to us. The children had time to reflect on the things that went well for them in the autumn term and the things they thought they would like to improve, get better at or even start doing! This half-term our whole school value will focus on collaboration. Staff will be shining a spotlight on the opportunities they can share with children to demonstrate their skills in collaboration over the half-term. Our first main focus will look at effective talk partners, exploring how we can be a good listener as well as sharing our ideas. These skills will be celebrated in our weekly celebration assemblies on Fridays.
PE/Forest School Sessions
We ask that children come to school in their PE kits on the days that we have PE. Children will need to remove all jewellery, including earrings (where possible). Children who are wearing earrings on their PE day will have tape applied which will be removed after the lesson. The PE days across the week are as follows:
Monday Class 2
Tuesday Year 4 Forest School
Wednesday Class 3 Falcons Gymnastics and Class 4
Friday Class 1
Tuck Shop
Our School Council restarted their tuck shop enterprise this week. Thank you to all those parents who have signed up for this half-term. If you need to add your children to the list, please speak to Mrs Humphries in the school office. Mrs Radley is planning on meeting with the school council to discuss their plans for our sensory garden as, unfortunately, this had to be put on hold due to the new outside area in class 2 and the weather. We hope to start plans on this as soon as possible.
Year 5 Residential to London
I am very much looking forward to accompanying our year 5 children on their residential to London at the beginning of February. Thank you to those parents for coming along to our meeting on Wednesday this week. If you were unable to attend and have any questions or queries about the residential, please do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Hopkins or myself. Please can we ask that all payments are made by the deadline of tomorrow (17th January).
Class 3 Visit to The Roman Baths
Class 3 set off early this morning for their visit to the Roman Baths today. This will support their humanities topic they are exploring this half-term. We are very much looking forward to hearing all about their visit and experiences which will be shared in next week’s newsletter.
Book and Biscuit Session
We would like to invite parents and carers to our next Book and Biscuit session this half-term on Monday 9th February at 2:45pm. The children will have the opportunity to share what they have been learning in Science. This is always well attended and the children really value time to share their learning with their family. We look forward to seeing you then.
Curriculum Newsletters
Please do take time to look at the curriculum newsletters for your child/ren which have been shared alongside this week’s newsletter. The newsletters will give an overview of what will be covered in each subject across the curriculum for this half-term. Once again, if you have any artefacts, books or information to support an area of the curriculum, please speak to your child/ren’s class teacher.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Cook
