Dear parents and carers,
This week our School Council members helped to lead the assembly on Monday which focused on our bring your pet to school week. I know the children have been excited and some have already begun preparing power points and videos to share with their peers. The School Council is hoping the sharing of information and the responsibility of looking after an animal will enable all the children across the school to think about the benefits of having a school pet at HNTPS. If you are able to support this event and bring your pet to school, please speak to our email your child’s class teacher. This will take place on the last week of this half-term – Monday 30th March to Thursday 2nd April.
We are so proud of the children and the resilience and self-belief they are demonstrating within the classroom. Over the past few weeks, staff have seen children really challenging themselves, whether that is with the language they are using in their writing, a spelling strategy they have been taught being applied in their learning, a maths challenge that has different strategies they must use and apply or even a new skill they need to practice in their PE lessons.
Next week, the children from years 1 – 6 will be completing a range of reading, spelling, grammar and maths assessments. This will enable staff to measure the progress children have made, enabling them to plan provision for gaps in children’s knowledge and understanding. We know that some children find these assessments challenging, but we hope that they continue to believe in themselves, as we know they can do it!
Parent Consultations Tuesday 24th and Thursday 26th March
We are looking forward to our upcoming parents’ evening which will be taking place the week after next. A huge thank you to those parents who have already booked their parent’s evening appointments with their child/ren’s class teacher. Appointments can be made through our Arbor system for those parents still needing appointments. If you are unable to make either of those appointments, please do speak to your child’s class teacher to arrange a convenient time.
Red Nose Day – Break the Rules
Next Friday 20th March, children at HNTPS are invited to ‘break the Rules’ doing something funny to raise money for Comic Relief. The children can come dressed in their own clothes or wear something funny, come to school with crazy hair, have a special treat snack for breaktime or something extra special in their lunch box for the day. We are asking for a 50p donation for each rule that is broken, please use the following link to donate funds to Comic Relief:

We look forward to seeing the children in their outfits and crazy hairstyles next Friday!
Egg Rolling Competition
Back by popular demand is our egg-cellent egg rolling competition! On Monday 30th March, children from nursery to year 6 are invited to decorate and bring to school a hard-boiled egg. On Monday afternoon, each child will take it in turn to roll their egg down our carefully constructed ramp. There will be a special Easter related prize for the furthest rolling egg from each class. We are looking forward to seeing everyone’s creations!
Mother’s Day Café
Thank you to all our wonderful mums who came along to our Mother’s Day café held in Lovacott Village Hall on Thursday morning. The children in class 1 enjoyed sharing their wonderful artwork, singing their beautiful songs and sharing their favourite things about their mums. A huge thank you to Mrs Radley and class 1 staffing team for all their hard work co-ordinating the event.
Wishing all our wonderful mums a happy Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Have a great weekend,
Mrs Cook
