Dear parents and carers,
It was so lovely to see the sun shining this week and be reminded that brighter evenings are not far away. The children have enjoyed being outside, enjoying the sunshine with the wide variety of equipment the sports leaders have set up for lunchtime play.
In our whole school assembly on Monday, we reflected on the importance of self-belief and taking a risk in our classrooms. The children thought about times when they maybe didn’t feel brave to put their hand up to answer a question, too worried about maybe getting it wrong and what others might think. This week, staff have encouraged the children to take a risk and be brave in their classrooms, and we are pleased to see that more children have been showing a ‘have a go’ attitude.
We are extremely proud of the children across the school as we carried out a range of assessments in reading, spelling, grammar and maths this week. The children were focused and determined to try their very best, even though some of the questions were challenging. Staff will use these assessments to inform their planning and support the children to close gaps in their knowledge and understanding.
Thank you to all our children for participating in our ‘Break the Rules Day’ to raise money for Comic Relief. The children thoroughly enjoyed wearing their own clothes at the end of a busy week and having some special treats in their bags for break and lunchtime. Thank you to our parents for donating to the just giving fundraising page we set up. All donations will go straight to the Comic Relief fundraising charity. There is still time to donate: please click on the following link which will take you to our school fundraising page.

Parent Consultations
A huge thank you to all those parents who have booked an appointment through our Arbor system to meet with their child/ren’s class teacher next Tuesday and Thursday. Apologies to those parents of children in class 2 who had booked a parents’ consultation with myself on Tuesday. These have now been rescheduled to Wednesday 25th March at the same allocated time. If you are unable to make this appointment, please do speak to me at drop off or pick up, and we can arrange another time which is convenient.
Citizenship Award – Thursday 2nd April
Last half-term, each child was given their own citizenship scrap book to enable them to collate their photos, tickets, pictures and writing to support their citizenship targets they will be working on across this year. On the last day of term – Thursday 2nd April, we would like the children to bring their citizenship scrap books into school. During our PHSE sessions on that day, the children will have the opportunity to share what they have been working on towards their awards with each other and hopefully support each other with some ideas! We are looking forward to finding out what the children have been up to. Each child will also have received a ‘citizenship passport’ during the last half-term which outlines the targets they will be working on. These can be found on our school website or by clicking on the link below:

Bring your pet to school week – Monday 30th March to Thursday 2nd April
Thank you to those parents who have arranged to bring their family pets into school to meet their child/ren’s classes. We are finalising the timetable across the week at the beginning of next week. If you would like to bring a pet in to meet your child’s class, please do speak to your child’s class teacher to arrange a time. We are very much looking forward to seeing a range of pets at school in the last week of term!
Please do encourage your child to bring a water bottle to school each day. We provide lots of opportunities throughout the day for children to have a drink break as well as encouraging them to drink during break and lunch time.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Cook
