Dear parents and carers,
What a fantastic week we have had here at HNTPS, a packed week that enabled us all to celebrate our amazing children and supportive families. Throughout the week, we saw a wide range of animals, from hamsters, guinea pigs, dogs, sheep, lambs and horses visit classes throughout the school in our ‘Bring your pet to school week’, an idea generated by our school council team, who leading up to this week had spoken to all the children in our whole school assemblies and spoke to all the children outlining the purpose of these visits. This truly shone in the sessions and children confidently shared a wide range of information and details about how to look after, feed and take care of their animals. It also gave the rest of their class the opportunity to ask a range of questions, with many children keen to learn and find out more about a wide range of animals. Thank you to all our parents for giving up their time to bring the animals into school, helping to organise power points and videos of animals for their children, making the experience truly memorable!
On Monday afternoon, the weather stayed dry to enable the whole school to participate in our Egg-cellent egg rolling competition with some brilliantly decorated eggs that were beautifully designed. It was lovely to see how the children clapped and cheered each other with a true team spirit. A big well done to our four winners: Darcey (class 1), Morwenna (class 2), Teddy (class 3) and Edie (class 4) and all the children who took part.
On Tuesday, Rev. Gary spent the day in school visiting the classes and talking with the children about the topics and subjects they have been learning in their weekly Religious Education and World Views sessions. The children enjoyed asking Rev. Gary a range of questions that helped to deepen their understanding and thinking, reflecting on their knowledge and understanding of their topics. A huge thank you to Rev Gary for taking time to visit our children and lead whole school assemblies across the term.
Our book and biscuit session on Wednesday enabled parents to visit their child/ren’s classes to look at the range of art and DT learning the children have been exploring across the term. These sessions are a valuable way to engage in your child/ren’s learning and celebrate their successes and achievements in all areas of the curriculum. Thank you to all those parents and wider family members who came along to this session.
A group of children from class 4 also took part in a gymnastics session alongside children from other TEAMS schools on Wednesday. Thank you to Mrs Hopkins for organising the event and enabling our children to share experiences and showcase the skills they have been developing in their PE sessions at Tarka gymnastics this half-term.
Our week finished with a celebration of the children’s learning in our weekly celebration assembly and shared some of the songs they have been learning with Mrs Dorrell in our weekly singing assemblies. We are incredibly proud of the focus and engagement the children have shown this term. Over this half-term, we have seen children across the school demonstrate resilience and determination through their learning and interactions with each other, embracing our school value of self-belief.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our families and wider community for their continued support and wish you all a wonderful Easter break.
Looking forward to welcoming all our children back to school on Monday 20th April.
Mrs Cook
