Dear parents and carers,
Welcome back to the summer term. We hope that you all had a relaxing and enjoyable rest over the Easter break and managed to spend some time with family and friends. It has been so lovely to see the children return to school on Monday and share their wonderful experiences of days out, holidays and quality time with their families.
This half-term our school focus is ‘What makes a good leader’. In our whole school assembly on Monday, the children shared the importance of communication and, as a school, we talked about leading by example and being a good role model for others. Through our assembly we looked at famous people in sport and characters in films who demonstrate ‘good leadership’ through their actions and words. This half-term the adults in school will be celebrating those children who demonstrate leadership qualities through their behaviour and attitude. These will be shared in our weekly celebration assemblies and whole school assemblies each Monday.
Year 6 SATs
The children in year 6 have been working incredibly hard to revisit and embed their knowledge in readiness for their SATs assessments that will take place on the week beginning Monday 11th May. Mrs Hopkins and myself are extremely proud of all the year 6 children and their attendance in their weekly SATs after-school club, where they have been focused and highly engaged with the range of activities and challenges. We plan to invite our year 6 children into school to enjoy a breakfast together every day from 8:15am that week. The timetable for the week is set out below.

Year 6 Bude Residential Meeting
Parents of year 6 children are invited to our Bude residential meeting this coming Wednesday 27th April at 3:30pm in class 4. The meeting will be an opportunity for parents to find out more about the activities the children will be taking part in and ask any questions. Children are also welcome to attend the meeting. Due to the meeting taking place, there will be no SATs club next week. We look forward to seeing our year 6 parents next week and are looking forward to sharing the range of activities the children will be enjoying in Bude.
Sport Day – Tuesday 9th June and Friday 12th June (Nursery)
We are very much looking forward to our Sports Day, which will take place on the village field this year on Tuesday 9th June at 1pm for children in reception to year 6 and Friday 12th June at 10am. After a fantastic sports day last year, the children will be taking part in the family group activities that enable them to showcase their teamwork and collaboration skills before their individual races at the top of the field. We are looking forward to welcoming all our parents to cheer on their child/ren throughout the afternoon and morning events.

End of Year Production – Friday 17th July
We are excited to showcase a range of acting talents in our key stage 2 end of year production entitled ‘ Gigglebox’ in Lovacott Village Hall on Friday 17th July at 1:30pm and 6pm. Auditions will take place over the next few weeks for children across key stage 2. We hope that every child in class 3 and 4 will be involved, and the school can come together to entertain our parents and the wider community at the end of the year. Please speak to your child about the auditions, as we have many speaking parts that need to be filled. Children will be told their parts before we break up for the half-term (year 6 parents will be emailed as they are on residential). We would like to email out the script to parents so that children can start learning their parts over the half-term break.
Year 6 Leavers Assembly – Monday 20th July
Lovacott Village hall has been booked for our year 6 leavers assembly, which will take place on Monday 20th July at 2pm. We look forward to inviting all our parents to wish all our year 6 children the best of luck as they leave us at HNTPS and prepare for the next adventure in their educational journey to secondary school.
As the weather continues to shine, we are planning on bringing the children to the field during their lunchtime breaks so they can make use of the vast space the village field has to offer. Please can we ask that children come to school with a bottle of drink daily and, if the weather is forecast for sunshine, a hat. We would be grateful if parents applied sun cream before the start of the school day. Many thanks for your continued support.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Cook
