Dear parents and carers,
This week our year six children have shone brightly. They have clearly demonstrated our school values by showing determination, perseverance and resilience as they completed their SATs assessments. We are extremely proud of them and their efforts with their learning, not only this week but throughout the year, as they continually strive to give everything 100%, and we can not ask for more than that! A massive thank you to Mrs Hopkins and the rest of the year 5/6 team, who not only prepared the children for their assessments but have gone above and beyond to lead additional sessions after school and keep the children calm, enabling them to 'Be the Best we Can Be." I would also like to say a massive thank you to Mrs Robinson for her delicious breakfasts she prepared for the year 6 children this week and to the rest of our staffing team who adapted their timetables to ensure that the year 6 children had minimal disruption whilst completing their assessments. This week has definitely shown true team togetherness, making Horwood and Newton Tracey a very special place to work.
Year 6 Bude Residential
Our year 6 children are excited about their week-long adventures in Bude that begin this Sunday. We know they will have a fantastic time and enjoy the wide range of activities that have been planned, as well as making beautiful memories to cherish with their friends. These amazing opportunities enable children to come together from across the trust to share experiences and build new friendships with other children. Thank you to Mrs Carter and Mrs Hopkins, who will be accompanying the children across the week. We ask that children are dropped off at the Adventure Centre by 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon. We look forward to sharing their updates across the week on our Facebook page and in next week’s newsletter.
Class 3 Egyptian Workshop
As part of their history learning this week, our children have a fantastic opportunity to consolidate what they have been learning with a brilliant workshop led by Neil Heasman on Tuesday next week. These workshops help to bring learning to life and enable the children to share experiences that enhance and build upon what they have been exploring in class. Payment for this workshop has been set up in Arbor, and we ask that all payments are made by this coming Monday 18th May. Thank you so much for your support. We look forward to sharing the children’s experiences in next week’s newsletter.
Year 3 and 4 Residential
Final preparations are in place for the year 3 and 4 residential to the Wildside Experience in June. Please can we ask that all payments are made by 5th June. Thank you so much for your continued support.
FRIENDS ‘Smarties Challenge’
Just to remind our parents about our smarties' event being run by our FRIENDS group. Each child will receive a tube of smarties and children are encouraged to complete chores or good deeds to earn 20p coins and fill their Smarties tube to return to school. Tubes are to be returned to class teachers by Monday 15th June and there will be special prizes to be won. Our Friends group continues to work incredibly hard behind the scenes to raise money and support the school with educational visits, resources for the classrooms as well as running special events for all the children across the school to enjoy. In order for this to continue and be successful, we need more members. Please do speak to Lisa Chapple (our Chair of FRIENDS) if you can offer anytime to support the group, which is an invaluable support to our children at HNTPS.
Lunchtime field Sessions
As the weather continues to get brighter, we aim to bring the children onto the field at lunchtimes. Please can we ask children to bring a hat and water bottle to school each day.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Cook
