Dear parents and carers,
It has been another wonderful week in school! There have been so many lovely events and activities taking place and it has been a real joy to see so many of our children getting involved, trying new things and enjoying these special moments together.
The warm weather has continued and we have been working hard to make sure that children stay safe, cool and hydrated throughout the school day. Please continue to send your child into school with a named water bottle and sun hat and ensure that sun cream has been applied before they arrive at school.
Sports Day
Our Sports Day was a huge success and the sunshine certainly helped to make it an even more enjoyable occasion. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff who stayed to support the event. Without their time, energy and commitment, we simply would not be able to provide such wonderful experiences for our children.
It was fantastic to see children embracing their family group activities and particularly lovely to see our older children looking after and encouraging our younger pupils throughout the events. The competitive races that followed were filled with enthusiasm, determination and team spirit as children competed for their family groups. We saw some fantastic examples of sportsmanship, resilience and skill and it was wonderful to celebrate everyone’s efforts.
Road Safety Reminder
It has been lovely to see some of our children enjoying cycling and scooting to school from the car park. We would just like to remind families to continue helping children stay safe by encouraging them to keep close to the side of the road and remain aware of vehicles moving around the school area.
At the end of the school day, please could we also remind parents and carers to come over to the gates to collect their children. We want to ensure that all children leave school safely and avoid any accidents or confusion at home time.
Citizenship Awards Ceremony – Wednesday 15th July
Our Citizenship Awards Ceremony will take place in the Gospel Hall on Wednesday, and families are warmly invited to join us. The ceremony will begin at 2.45pm, and there will be a selection of scrapbooks on display for you to enjoy before and after the event.
We are incredibly grateful to all the parents and families who have supported their children with their citizenship activities. It has been wonderful to see the effort and enthusiasm that has gone into these projects and we hope that even more children will take part next year.
Reminder - Outstanding Balances in Arbor
Please can we remind parents to clear all outstanding balances in Arbor accounts by the end of next week (Friday 17th July). Many thanks for your understanding.
KS2 Play – “Goggle-box”
Our KS2 production is really starting to come together and we are looking forward to sharing it with you on Friday 17th July at 1.45pm and 6pm.
Children will need to bring their costumes into school on Monday in a named carrier bag, ready for our dress rehearsal next week. For the evening performance, children should return to the village hall by 5.45pm so that we can get everyone ready for the 6pm start.
The evening performance is always very popular and can get very busy, so if you are able to attend the afternoon performance, you are more likely to be able to find a seat.
Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly - Monday 20th July 2pm
We will be holding our Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly on Monday 20th July at 2pm. Families of our Year 6 children are warmly invited to join us in the village hall as we celebrate their time at our school and wish them well as they prepare for the next exciting chapter of their journey.
Bring the tissues — it promises to be a very special and emotional afternoon!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. It has been a pleasure seeing the children making memories, celebrating achievements and enjoying all that school life has to offer.
Staffing Update
At the end of this term, we will be saying a fond farewell to Mrs Carter, who has taught across our year groups for a number of years. We are happy to announce that we have successfully appointed Miss Attwood, who will be teaching in our Foundation Stage Class (Reception and Nursery) in September, alongside Mrs Radley.
Have a lovely weekend.
Mrs Hopkins
