Dear parents and carers,
Dear parents and carers,
I am so pleased to be back and to have the opportunity to reconnect with our wonderful school community. I am looking forward to spending time with the children and hearing about everything they have been learning, discovering and achieving during my absence. Their enthusiasm, kindness and pride in their learning have been a wonderful reminder of what makes our school such a special place, and I have felt incredibly proud listening to all that they have accomplished.
I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to our exceptional staff. Returning to school has reinforced just how fortunate we are to have such a dedicated, caring and proactive team. Your unwavering commitment, professionalism and teamwork ensured that the children continued to flourish and that the school remained a happy, nurturing and ambitious place to learn. Knowing the school was in such capable hands gave me great reassurance, and I am deeply thankful for all that you have done.
Finally, thank you to our families for your kindness, patience and good wishes during my time away. It is a privilege to be part of such a supportive community, and I am looking forward to working together as we continue to help every child thrive.
Colour Run
Last week, our wonderful Friends organised an amazing Colour Run for all of the children. It was fantastic to see everyone having so much fun running around the field and getting covered in colourful paint! The excitement was contagious, and even the teachers couldn't resist joining in.
A huge thank you to the Friends for all of their hard work, planning and preparation to make the event such a success. We are also incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and supported the event. Every penny raised will go towards funding exciting trips and experiences for all of our children during the next academic year.
Gigglebox
Final preparations for our school play, Gigglebox, have gone really well and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone to our performances this afternoon and this evening. We hope you enjoy the show! We'll do our best to share some photos with you next week.
Fonetti
We are delighted to let you know that we have signed up to Fonetti, a free online reading platform that children can use over the summer, if they would like to. Fonetti offers a wide range of books for children to read aloud and the app (which you will need to download) provides support with any tricky words they come across, helping to build both confidence and fluency.
We've attached a leaflet with more information about Fonetti and how to get started. If you do give it a try over the summer, we would really appreciate hearing your feedback.
We know that children can sometimes lose a little reading fluency over the long summer break, so keeping up with regular reading—even just a few minutes each day—can make a huge difference. Thank you for your continued support in encouraging your child to read at home.
Citizenship Awards
We were delighted to present Citizenship Awards to 34 children on Wednesday. It was wonderful to see all the fantastic activities they had documented in their scrapbooks – such a special keepsake for them to look back on in years to come. We hope to run the awards again in September and look forward to seeing even more children getting involved.
Bikeability
Our Year 4 and Year 6 children took part in Bikeability this week, and Mr Paddon was delighted with how well everyone did. The children showed excellent cycling skills, confidence and responsibility as they practised both in the village hall car park and out on the roads.
Year 6 Leavers' Assembly
On Monday, we look forward to welcoming our Year 6 parents to our Leavers' Assembly as we celebrate the children's time at primary school and wish them every success as they prepare for their exciting move to secondary school. It promises to be a very special – and emotional – afternoon.
Looking Ahead to September
We hope that everyone has a wonderful, restful summer holiday. We can't wait to welcome the children back to school on Monday 7th September, ready for another exciting year of learning and fun together.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Kind regards,
Mrs Cook
