Dear parents and carers,
We have been very excited to welcome two authors to the school this week from Appledore Book Festival. On Wednesday, class 1 and 2 were visited by Layn Marlow, who shared her beautiful book The Colour of the Sky with the children. As well as being an author, Layn is also an illustrator and the children had a great time creating their own scenes from the story to create some beautiful masterpieces. On Friday, the children in class 3 and 4 will be visited by Joseph Elliott, who will share his fantastic book Nora and the Map of Mayhem with the children. A huge thank you to Appledore Book Festival, who kindly donated a book from the authors for every child in the school.
Cross Country Event
On Tuesday this week. Children in class 3 and 4 took part in a cross-country event at High Bickington. Mrs Gordon and Mrs McFarlane, who attended the event with the children commented on how fantastic the children behaved as well as the encouragement and team spirit they showed towards each other. A huge well done to all the children who took part. We are looking forward to further TEAM cross-country events across the year.

A list shared from the food bank in class week’s newsletter offers suggestions of the types of donations they would be thankful for.
Breaktime Snacks
As a healthy school, please can we remind all parents that we encourage your child to bring a healthy snack for morning break time. This could be fruit or raisins. All other foods will be kept in lunch boxes to be eaten at lunchtime. Thank you for your continued support.
As the weather continues to be unpredictable, please can we ask that children come to school with a coat each day as we try to get the children outside for fresh air and activities throughout the day. Water bottles are also encouraged which can be refilled throughout the day when needed.
Caroline Robinson - Kitchen Manager
A huge well done to Mrs Robinson for achieving another 5 rating for her Environmental Health inspection this week! Very well done!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Cook
