Dear parents and carers,
Thank you to all the parents who attended our wonderful Harvest Celebration on Tuesday this week. The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing their poems, harvest foods and information about the Freedom Centre in Barnstaple as well as their beautiful singing. Once again, thank you all for the kind donations that we have received over the last few weeks. These will be taken to the Freedom Centre today and will support the fantastic work that staff at the Freedom Centre continue to do for the people of Barnstaple and surrounding areas.

Tuck Shop Reminder
Thank you to all our parents for continuing to support our school council with their weekly Tuck Shop. After half-term, I will be meeting with the school council to discuss what they would like to see developed within the school, and we can discuss how the money raised from their tuck shop can be spent. The Arbor link for next half-term’s tuck shop is now open. The cost is £3.50 for the 7-week period. The link will close on Tuesday 3rd November.
Snow White Pantomime – Wednesday 16th December
We are very excited to have secured seats for all the children in the school to visit the Queen’s Theatre in Barnstaple to watch the Christmas pantomime performance of ‘Snow White’. The performance will take place during the school day and the children will return for school dinners and lunches as normal. A huge thank you to FRIENDS who have donated funds to support the transport to and from this event. The cost of the ticket is £12.17 per child and payments can be made through Arbor. We ask that all payments are made by Monday 30th November so we can finalise numbers with the theatre. We are very much looking forward to a whole school event and to enjoy the magic of Christmas with all our children.
After School Club Cancelled – Tuesday 3rd November
Due to essential staff training for all members of staff, we are unable to run our after-school provision on Tuesday 3rd November. Our after-school club will run as normal for the rest of the week from 3:30-5:30pm. Thank you for your continued support.
Citizenship Award
This week, we launched our Citizenship award with all our children across the school. The children completed one of their challenges in class and class teachers took time to talk to the children about the range of exciting challenges that they can complete at home with their parents and carers. Children will bring home their citizenship scrap books after half-term, which will include the range of challenges that they can begin completing at home. Please note, the year group challenges can be found on our school website under Parents & Pupils/Home learning. The challenges have been set according to the children’s ages and abilities and linked with the expectations of our National curriculum. We thought that half-term would be a perfect opportunity for the children to begin engaging with working on the range of exciting opportunities and experiences which we are looking forward to hearing all about after the half-term break. Children who successfully complete all their challenges will be awarded with their medal and certificate in the summer term.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents and carers for their continued support this half-term. We wish all our families a restful half-term break and look forward to welcoming all our children back to school on Monday 2nd November at 8:50am.
